Learn more about Andrea Bell, our new LMS (Learning Management System) Coordinator at the Minnesota Child Welfare Training Academy!
What is your job title, and what will you be doing?
My job title is LMS Coordinator. My work within the LMS team will primarily involve troubleshooting and resolving learner technical requests via ticket, creating technical support resources, helping to configure the LMS, and assisting with course builds.
How long have you been working in your field?
I’ve worked in or adjacent to education my entire career, but I’ve worked on the technical support/technical training side of things for the past five years.
Tell us about your education and/or work experience prior to joining the MNCWTA.
I have a BA in English Education and a MSEd in Learning Design & Technology. After teaching high school English for several years at the beginning of my career, I transitioned into a role as an Education & Training Specialist for a web hosting company, where I provided clients with technical training and support on our various platforms.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
Technology can get frustrating pretty quickly. I enjoy not only helping people resolve technical issues as they arise but also thinking about the user experience and working to try and address problem spots proactively to make things as seamless (and frustration-free) as possible.
What are you most passionate about professionally?
Broadly speaking, meeting people where they’re at and helping them learn in whatever way(s) work best. I’m a huge believer in the need to continuously adjust and improve based on learner feedback.
What are you most passionate about personally?
I’m passionate about a number of things. A few that come to mind are advocating for access to mental health services, promoting animal welfare organizations, and supporting local businesses (especially independent bookstores) whenever possible. I’m also passionate about traveling and am usually planning my next trip (or two or three…)
What are you surprisingly good at?
I like to think I’m a pretty decent cook! I’ve also had several people throughout my life mention that they wish they could “turn my handwriting into a font” (though I’m not sure if that really counts).
What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy reading any and all kinds of books, cross stitching, attending group fitness classes, volunteering at the humane society, and spending time with my husband and our beloved rescue pup, Lenny.
